about the show.
As part of Pitlochry Festival Theatre's Award Winning 'Sound Stage' Artistic Director, Elizabeth Newman, has taken two short stories by Anton Chekhov and weaves them into a tale of wilful ignorance and stupidity.

It is 1890 and in the small-town between Moscow and St Petersburg, we find Avdeyev crying and begging the prison guards to help him as they escort him to his cell. Avdeyev has been found guilty of a crime he is sure he did not commit, it's surely a case of misunderstanding. But who has truly misunderstood the situation?
